Through our brand videography, we had the privilege of working with Elaine in the Goldcoast this weekend to film her reading poems from her book “Silent Grief and Certain Hope.” (You can purchase a copy of her book here.)

Elaine wrote her books during dark times in her life in a hope to comfort others who are going through the same pain.

Through the videos we’ve filmed together, Elaine will be able to touch many more lives through her poetry forever and we were truly inspired to have met someone like Elaine with such a heart to comfort people during their worst times of their life.

Elaine’s garden was the perfect setting to film her reading from her poetry book

It was truly inspiring to get to know Elaine and all of her perspectives on life. Elaine’s cottage tucked away in Tambourine Mountain gave us peace and refreshed our creativity for this project. We wanted to do her poetry justice and we thought the best way to do that was to find areas in her garden and home because it just said so much about her character. A lot of the settings we chose we left untouched because we wanted to really capture everything authentically. Some of her poems actually reference certain trees and flowers in her garden, but most notably the yellow daffodils on the front cover.

We often spent time sitting in front of this large window overlooking the ocean and the city of Gold Coast talking about Elaine’s inspiration behind her books and her mission to touch the lives of broken hearted people.

A home with so much history and sentiment

Her home was so rich with history and character, it was the perfect setting to film. Every time we asked about a certain piece of furniture or something displayed in her house, there was always a story behind it or an ancestor who passed it down through the generations.

Our favourite thing in her home had to be her collection of ceramic miniature houses. We’d spent some time looking at each house with a magnifying glass because only certain houses had either a mouse or an owl as a special edition to the house. Elaine saw how much we loved the houses and decided to gift us one to take home to Melbourne with us. This miniature house she gave us is called “Plum Cottage” and it will always remind us of our time in Elaine’s cottage up in Tambourine Mountain.
