Some couples are just made for each other, and that’s exactly the feeling you get when you’re around Dexter and Gizelle. Their love is warm, familiar, and full of shared moments that tell a story all their own. For their Melbourne Record Store Engagement Session, we chose a unique and location— Dutch Vinyl a record store in Abbotsford. It was the perfect backdrop to capture their love for music and the nostalgic vibe they wanted for their photos.

Music plays a central role in Dexter and Gizelle’s relationship, so choosing a record store for their Melbourne engagement photos felt like a perfect match. We arranged for them to come before the store opened, giving them an intimate moment to enjoy the space and focus on each other. Dexter and Gizelle wanted their session to feel like a glimpse into their world—a place full of stories, creativity, and art. The record store captured that energy and gave them the laid-back, personal vibe they were after.

One of the standout moments of the session came when we asked Dexter and Gizelle to pick a record that represented each other. Dexter got teary-eyed and said, “Man, I love you. You really know me.” Gizelle, always lovingly staring at Dexter, pulled out Liquorice Pizza, and they shared a smile that spoke volumes about their connection. It’s moments like these that make engagement photos so special—they capture not just the aesthetic, but the real emotions behind the scenes.

Their dynamic was playful and affectionate, and we helped them relax by giving them fun prompts and games. By the end of the shoot, they were running hand in hand, laughing and fully enjoying the experience. Afterward, we grabbed coffee at one of our favorite Melbourne spots and chatted about their plans for the future—including their dream of moving to Amsterdam together. They had flown in from Sydney, fresh from a friend’s wedding, and it felt special to share this piece of Melbourne with them.

We used a blend of film, digital, and Polaroid formats to capture their engagement session. The vintage charm of the record store and the nostalgic quality of film worked beautifully together, making their Melbourne record store engagement photos feel timeless and true to their story.

This session was more than just photos—it was about capturing the little moments that make Dexter and Gizelle’s love so unique. Their engagement session reminded us of something important: photos, videos, and keepsakes can only capture a glimpse of what love truly feels like. But sometimes, that glimpse is enough.
